Stacey Feeley is a Michigan mom with an adorable 3-year-old daughter.
And when she found her daughter standing on the toilet she laughed, attributing her little girl’s fanciful state of mind to a child’s innate creativity and imagination.
But when her daughter explained what she was doing, Stacey was shocked.
And then she broke down.
Feeley says her daughter was actually practicing a lockdown drill, hiding from a potential attacker.
“Politicians – take a look. This is your child, your children, your grandchildren, your great grand children and future generations to come. They will live their lives and grow up in this world based on your decisions. They are barely 3 and they will hide in bathroom stalls standing on top of toilet seats. I do not know what will be harder for them? Trying to remain quiet for an extended amount of time or trying to keep their balance without letting a foot slip below the stall door?”
Thousands of Facebook users have reacted to the post and it’s been shared more than 10,000 times.
She made this post in response to the June 12 massacre at Pulse nightclub in Orlando that left 49 people dead.
And whether you think gun control or increased government surveillance is the answer to curbing domestic terrorism, pictures like this are sobering reminder of the world we live in and how much it affects all of us.
What kind of world are we going to leave behind for our children? And for their children?
